Korean-engineered technology · Bison Medical, South Korea
ElaDerm (by Bison Medical, South Korea) combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy: micro-fine needles reach a set depth in the skin and release RF energy at the tip, with a cooling gas released at the same time for comfort. It's used on concerns such as active acne, acne scarring and skin texture, over a tailored course.
Concerns it's designed to help
Active acne
For persistent or inflamed breakouts, as one part of a plan your practitioner sets with you.
Acne scarring
For the rolling and boxcar scarring left behind after acne, where the skin's surface is uneven.
Texture and open pores
For skin that reads rough or coarse in side light, and pores that look larger than they did.
Congestion and oiliness
For skin that feels congested through the T-zone between breakouts.
What to expect
Micro-fine needles pass through the skin's surface to a chosen depth and deliver radiofrequency energy precisely where it's needed, while a cooling system calms the skin as it works. The aim is to support the skin's own renewal over a considered course — comfortable, controlled and tailored to your skin at consultation.
- Sessions
- A tailored course, confirmed at consultation

Where ElaDerm works.
The needles pass through the surface to a depth chosen for your skin, and release radiofrequency energy at the tip. A cooling flow calms the surface while it works.

What to expect afterwards
Most people carry on with their week. Here is what the days after a session usually feel like.
- The same day Skin looks flushed and feels warm, a little like mild sunburn. You go home with aftercare written down, not recited.
- Day 1 to 2 The flush settles and skin can feel tight or a little rough. Most people work as normal. We tell you when makeup is fine again, usually the next day.
- Day 3 to 5 Any dryness eases. Keep it simple: gentle cleanser, moisturiser, and sunscreen every morning without exception.
- Week 1 Back to your usual routine, including active ingredients, once we confirm your skin is ready for them.
- Week 4 to 6 The next session, if a course is the plan you agreed at consultation.
A general guide — everyone heals a little differently, and your plan is always explained in your consultation.
Outcomes designed to last.
Changes build gradually as the skin renews over the weeks following a course. We set realistic expectations together at your consultation — acne and scarring are individual, and any plan is tailored to you.
Before-and-after imagery is shared privately during consultation, with consent, in line with Australian advertising standards.

Frequently asked questions
What is ElaDerm used for?
It is a radiofrequency microneedling treatment used for active acne, acne scarring and skin texture. Whether it suits you is assessed individually at a consultation.
Is it uncomfortable?
A cooling flow runs while the handpiece works, which is the point of the design. Most people describe it as warm and tolerable rather than painful, and we check in with you throughout.
What do the days afterwards look like?
Flushing and warmth on the day, settling over the next day or two, with skin that can feel tight or slightly rough before it eases. The timeline above sets out the week.
Can I have it if I am on acne medication?
Tell us everything you are taking, including isotretinoin (Roaccutane) and antibiotics. Some medicines mean waiting, and that is a decision your practitioner makes with you rather than a rule we apply from a form.
Is it suitable for darker skin tones?
Radiofrequency energy is not light based, so it does not seek out pigment the way a laser does. Suitability is still assessed individually, because skin is more than its tone.
How is it different from Secret RF?
Both deliver radiofrequency through fine needles. At this clinic ElaDerm is the one we reach for around acne and acne scarring, with cooling as it works. Which suits you depends on your skin, and we compare them properly at your consultation rather than on a page.
How many sessions will I need?
It is planned as a course, and the number depends on what we find at your consultation. We tell you the number and the cost before anything is booked.
Who is it not suitable for?
We do not treat over an active skin infection, during pregnancy, or where a condition or medicine makes it unwise. Checking that is part of the consultation, not an afterthought.
